BOTW #19 - One Popular Film!

liked this week in many ways. I liked the range of brickfilms. I liked the fact that many brickfilms veered away from humour (which is not good most of the time, but y'know, it's good to have a break) and I also like the fact that one film landed OVER HALF A MILLION VIEWS IN LESS THAN A WEEK.
3.Joan Of ART & Greta Frants - Better Day (Official Music Video) - coccosnowball. This video is very cool. It is one of the rare occasions when artists/bands use lego and to make their music videos using it. I figured it's actually a good way to make a would-be-high-budget-film-if-it-was-live-action without having to spend much money. I like the song, although it may not appeal to people who don't like electronic music, and the video itself is a little random, but has good animation and skilled set design.
2.Super Short - Romantic Beach Scene - Walter Benson. Last week Walter made a fantastic mime film that topped BOTW, and he has come back again with another unique idea. Although it's short, it's super (as the title suggests) and I find that Walter has perfected the 'Romantic Scene Goes Wrong' like this famous film. I think that the lighting is amazing, using what looks like a desktop light to make a fantastic sunset, and I like his way of making waves unlike famous brickfilmer Michael Hickox. I think it's generally great, and I said last week that Walter should make more films. Did I encourage him?
1.LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug - Teaser Trailer [HD] - BrotherhoodWorkshop. This was, how should I put it, um...MIND-BLOWING. I was just amazed to see the time that they must of put into, synchronising the scenes to the actual trailer, the fantastic set design and the VFX. Their aren't very many brickfilming studios, and BrotherhoodWorkshop lie among the a few that create fantastic work with all the people and contributors. I hope this comes to the attention to Peter Jackson, because BrotherhoodWorkshop have created many amazing LOTR films, and could be great use to him. It would probably be their dream come true. I also want to point out that it got over 600,000 views in the space of under a week. I won't be surprised if Desolation Of Smaug makes millions in the box office.

I Can't Stop Smiling! BOTW #17

I'm surprised by the amount of videos uploaded this week. I was expecting a lack of films, as the brickfilming community should be recovering from the exertions of BRAWL. But I got a surprising amount of videos in my feed (and not many were incomplete BRAWLs!) But it was enough to leave me seriously impressed by the quality.
3.Bricking Bad - AquaMorph. As Breaking Bad is drawing to a close, YouTube is full of parodies. This is the second Lego one I've seen, the other being ZachMG's 'The Dish Situation'. I really like this video, as I find the animation, set design, and lighting all of high quality. I think this video may become very successful, because of the popularity of Breaking Bad, and I hope it does too.
2.LEGO Tom Bombadil (Why was he cut?) - BrotherhoodWorkshop. Although I've never read the books Lord Of The Rings, (I HAVE seen all the films) I still find this video enjoyable. I really like the bark of the tree, and the self made face on Peter Jackson, and I love the moving legs of Tom. It's also a very funny video, and is a great recreation of backstage in the Hobbit film. This is already a huge success, and BrotherhoodWorkshop are now the most featured brickfilmers on my blog, by a long way.
1.Freedom Of Expression - xxxfancypantsxxx. "He's Back!" screamed the brickfilming community on Thursday 1st August when legendary animator Fancy Pants uploaded a vlog saying that he was planning to make a video in the next two weeks, and will emerge from his retirement to upload a video every now and again. People went wild. And when he uploaded the actual video, they went even crazier. The video has great animation, is hilarious, has great set-design, and has touched a point that no-one has really thought about before - a brilliant riff about freedom of expression vs the fixed expressions on the faces of Minifigures. This is the unique mind of Fancy Pants at work. I do hope that he does upload whenever he can, as everyone loves his videos, and he would be a great part of the brickfilming communty

Brickfilmers Achievements #3 - BrotherhoodWorkshop Hit 100,000 Views (Again)

'Battle At Black Gate' was uploaded to Youtube about 2 weeks ago. It's a really good animation, as is most of BrotherhoodWorkshop's work. It became a success very quickly, as BrotherhoodWorkshop are very popular YouTubers. The animation is very good, and there are some clever little techniques, but the video is also very funny.

Don't Kill The Messenger - BOTW #12

I was very excited about this week. So excited, I was shaking with anticipation. I knew this week would be awesome, and it was. But why? I'll show you.
3.Food Fight [Animation Challenge Entry] - backyardlegos. This was a great entry to the food fight animation challenge on bricksinmotion.com, which was one of the reasons I was so excited about this week. This was a great theme, chosen (as far as I know) by Ttownstudios, and gathered up some unique and interesting entries. This one was one of my favourites, along with MRlegobuilder987's  entry, and it's also pretty funny.
2.LEGO Battle At The Black Gate - BrotherhoodWorkshop. BrotherhoodWorkshop appears so frequently on this blog, that he is easily the most featured brickfilmer in it. Of course, this is no surprise, seeing that he uploads good-quality animations once every two weeks. I am personally a big fan of his works, and love his distinctive animation style and tricks. It's no wonder he's built up such a large amount of subscribers and interest. He is not only funny, but is a great animator too.
1.NNN - The Orange-Green War Continues - NightlyNewsatNine. This was the real reason that I was excited this week. This has been in production for almost 6 months, and it has been a tense wait. It was planned exactly when it was going to come out on YouTube (*cough*and I was the first viewer*cough*) I was so excited that I sat down next to the computer for 5 minutes waiting for it to go live, and it lived up to my expectations. The animation was flawless, and the entire storyline is fantastic. The only bad thing is now we have to waitfor Chapter 3 to come out :(

Star Wars vs. Harry Potter - BOTW #10

Hello, people. A new BOTW has finally dawned on us, and it happens to be the 10th! Bit of a milestone, but long may it review brickfilms.
This week, I was using a lot of the amazing site bricksinmotion.com to find out films. I strongly recommend you to find films that way too. Right, on to the judging!
3.TED-E - ZachMG. This film is great. It's realistic, has great sound effects and music, and the animation of the robot is fantastic. It's a very creative idea, but I find the ending sad (spoilers!), but I like the fact the plot line is a mix of realistic, emotional and humorous. ZachMG is an animator that isn't just well-known for his humour, but mainly his animation quality (not to say that his humour isn't hilarious anyway!)
2.Timelapse Test - obscec. This is a quick film, but it's amazing. The set design is fantastic, but the lighting is the thing that I was most impressed by. Take it from me, he controlled and animated the light. Not only is that a very unique technique, but it's very, very hard to master, and that is what obscec (well known brickfilmer CrazyEd's second channel) has done. The only problem is that it doesn't feature any sound whatsoever, I thought he could put some calm, chiming music in the background (Come on, it would work!)
1.Harry Potter Meets A Rancor - brickshowtv/BrotherhoodWorkshop. This is a great idea. It's clever, unique, and has a great use of special effects. I think that this is a really cool animation, and is another funny idea from BrotherhoodWorkshop's creative mind. Also, if you watched the Behind The Scenes Video, you'll notice that a lot of work was put into this film. Masking, greenscreening, VFX, graphic design, voice acting, natural set design, animating on clay, is there anything Kevin Ulrich can't do?

The Most Powerful Wizard In The World - BOTW #8

I've been oddly excited about writing this blog post. I think it's because we've had a great week of brickfilms and I've been wondering about what I'll choose. There's one thing I'm really disappointed I left out, but well, that's life, isn't it?

3.The Sad Truth (Rerun) - thefourmonkeys. These guys released this new film on their new channel, and it is one of their most popular videos with over eleven thousand views. They re-released it on their old channel, which it quite a bit more popular, with around 22,000 subscribers. I think all their fans were glad to see the film again, and the fans still subscribed to the classic channel would think it was a good film. I especially like the joke at the end. These guys really know how to make me (and others) laugh!
2.LEGO Marvel Super Heroes-Spider-Man - -Paganomation. This is a very clever animation. I really like the time taken into this film, as rope pieces are not easily manoeuvred around while animating. Paganomation have had a breakthrough of animation lately, and not all of it has been for the Lego group. I'm really looking forward to the 'Little Guys...In Space!' project. This is a very good animation, and is also very funny.
1.LEGO Voldemort Goes Wand Shopping - BrotherhoodWorkshop. This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. This was a great film, and a surprising break from LOTR (well...kind of). It had great use of the set Diagon Alley, and I'm also a really big fan of the graphic design, VFX, masking and voice acting. Also, it was sponsored by artifexcreation, which is a first. I've never seen a brickfilmer sponsor another brickfilmer, so I find this video a start in many ways. Also, I like it.

Chase McCain In Animation - And More! BOTW #5

Before I start showing you this week's brickfilms, I'm going to announce that my half-weekly blogpost is discontinued as I am going to concentrate on this weekly one. Right, let's go!
3.LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins Stop-Motion Feature - MICHAELHICKOXFilms. Michael Hickox recently hit 100,000 subscribers, which is a brickfilm achievement in my eyes, as only two other brickfilmers have managed this achievement (forrestfire101 and Keshen8) so, I guess this video was his celebration. He was asked by LEGO to promote their new game, The Chase Begins about LEGO City, the first LEGO City game commerically availiable, on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Overall, I think this video is funny, with Michael's predictable cheesy joke (this one is at 1:56). The animation quality is great, as always, but it would be good to see him trying a different story style.  .
2.Garbage Man - Paganomation. I was suprised that the official animators for The Official Lego Channel on youtube had time to enter the ReBrick competition, but I am very glad that they have found the time. Personally, this is my favourite Garbage Truck modification, but sadly I don't have all those pieces to make it :'( I also think that it is a magnificently animated video, but the only thing that I feel they should have dropped is the title card, as it will be removed if they win and it looked like they had taken time over it :(
Well, I am still supporting every ReBrick entry out there, so if you are reading and have a ReBrick entry submitted now,  I wish you the very best of luck!
1.Gorgy wants a horse - BrotherhoodWorkshop. This is my favourite ReBrick entry so far, and I am not suprised that BrotherhoodWorkshop's ReBrick Entries have both topped my charts consecutively. The creation is unique, but he is not the only person to opt for a medieval theme. How would anyone know that a barn could be turned into a Rocket Powered Wooden horse! I really think that BrotherhoodWorkshop is an amazing, creative, unique animator, and I think that this is almost guaranteed to do well. Well done BrotherhoodWork!

Plunger Havoc - BOTW #3

Hello! This week has been a bombardment of videos, with 10 videos being uploaded from wednesday alone! Well. I'm getting sick of these intros, let's go!
3.One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Six Legged Plunger Mech -BrotherhoodWorkshop. This is not, as the title makes you suspect, as funny as it sounds, but it's more AWESOME! BrotherhoodWorkshop usually do funny Lord Of The Rings parodies, which I enjoy even though I haven't read any of the books or seen any of the films, and I still find them hilarious. This was an entry to the ReBrick competition, which appears to be about turning something into something else. This is BrotherhoodWorkshop's first entry, so I'm expecting more to come!

2. ReBrick Movie Entry - bionicle28. This was 1st last week, but another ReBrick entry has knocked it off its place! This is slightly like BrotherhoodWorkshop's video, what with the Six Legged thing, but this I find has smoother animation, and the camera angles, picture quality all show up a guy with a serious experience in what he's doing.

1. Bovonic Tonic - pe668. This was a hard week to decide my favourite video. I chose Bovonic Tonic because the animation and set design are fantastic. The special effects are amazing, and I never really considered pe668 as one of my favourite brickfilmers. Overall, I think this film is just amazing.
